The SPL Tourisme en Pays de Saint-Omer, which operates lamaisondumarais.fr, follows a digital sobriety approach consistent with the mission of La Maison du Marais, in the heart of the Audomarois marshes.
This page documents our commitments, measured indicators and actions taken to reduce the website's environmental footprint without degrading visitor experience.

Objectives
Our homepage targets are:
- EcoIndex score >= 70 (grade B);
- page weight <= 1.024 MB;

These targets are reviewed after each significant change.
Actions implemented
Media and loading
- WebP images with
srcset/sizesto serve the right size by viewport. - Hero video re-encoded and loaded lazily (Intersection Observer), with
preload="none"by default. - Respect for system preference
prefers-reduced-motion.
User experience and sobriety
- Eco display mode in the settings panel: disables non-essential images, videos and visual effects (user choice, stored locally).
- Browser caching and asset cache-busting for CSS/JS to avoid unnecessary re-downloads.
Content and third parties
- Agenda/events: images are resized at integration level (lighter formats).
- Third-party services required for operations (analytics, booking module, agenda feed) are kept to preserve usability, and their impact is included in the metrics above.
Limits and transparency
- This is not a certified carbon assessment of the website, but a display-impact measurement (EcoIndex) and a transparency statement.
- Embedded third-party content (booking, maps, widgets) is not fully under our direct control.
- Results can vary depending on third-party content and measurement conditions.
